Georgia Enterprise, Oct. 15, 1896
  Mrs. J. J. Stephenson, of Covington, died in Atlanta on Sunday night where 
she had gone sometime since to receive medical treatment. She was one of our 
best and noblest ladies, dearly beloved and highly esteemed by all who knew 
her. She was a gentle  Christian lady whose life had been devoted to deeds of 
kindness and mercy, and who did all in her power to make those about her happy. 
She leaves several devoted children among them being Mr. Chas H. White, of this 
city, and Messrs Lovick and Jas. Stephenson, of Elberton. Her body was buried 
in the family section in the city cemetery here Tuesday.
