Mr. Arch Stewart Dead
  Mr. J. A. B. Stewart of Covington died at his residence in that place last
Sunday morning of heart failure. His remains were brought to this place and 
buried in the Rockdale cemetery beside that of his father's on Monday evening.
  Mr. Stewart was a noble hearted generous and charitable man broad and liberal
in his views, always ready to help any good enterprise and to push forward the 
town in which he lived. In his acts of kindness he did not proclaim them from 
the housetops- this he left for others, but should everyone who received some
favor at his hand place some tribute on his grave he would sleep sweetly beneath
a wilderness of flowers.
  The special correspondent of the Augusta Chronicle at this place pays the 
following tribute to Mr. Stewart:
  "On yesterday afternoon the last sad rites were said over the body of Mr.
Arch Stewart by the Rev. Berto Bigham. Would that all who had known this noble
generous man in life all who had felt his loving and tender hand of kindness
and charity could have heard this man of God talk of his dead friend of my 
friend. Nobly did he do his last sad duty to our friend. In all of our life
we have never had the pleasure of knowing such a man as Arch Stewart. 
Selfishness did not, could not, enter his being.
  As a business man he had few equals and we do not believe one superior
in his chosen field of labor. From the Atlantic to the Pacific Slope commerce
felt his master hand. In his death Covington lost one of her brightest business
men, Conyers one of her truest friends and the South one of her greatest 
citizens.
