DEATH OF COL. STEADMAN
     Hon. ENOCH STEADMAN died at his residence on Wednesday night. Aged about  
65? years. A kind, generous and noble man has been called from among us, and 
his death will be lamented wherever his name was known. He had been sick for a 
week or more, yet his many friends never imagined that the seal of death had 
settled upon his brow. The sympathies of our entire people are extended to the 
bereaved family of the deceased. His funeral will be preached at the Baptist 
Church here today, (Friday), at 9 a. m. After the funeral the burial will take 
place.
