Georgia Enterprise, April 2, 1896
  Mr. John J. Thompson, one of our best and most popular citizens, died at
his home in Rocky  Plains district, on Sunday, March 29. Aged about ?? years.
He was a gentleman of the highest integrity and possessed a social, happy
disposition, who made and maintained friends all along the journey of life.
He leaves several children and a large number of relatives and friends to mourn
his departure.
