C. Thomas Dead Dr. Leonard C. Thomas, one of the oldest and the best men in Oxford, breathed his last on Friday at twelve o’clock surrounded by his family. His health has been precarious for months, and day by day he has grown feebler until Friday at noon when his spirit took it’s flight to a happier and better place above. Dr. Thomas was seventy seven years old in April and has spent more than half of his long and useful life in the good old town of Oxford. He was a consistent member of the Methodist Church, and was honored and loved by both young and old. He leaves three daughters and one son to mourn his death, Rev. Mrs. J. L. Moon, of Conyers; Rev. Ed Gray of Eatonton; Miss Georgia Thomas; and Rev. A. C. Thomas, of the North Georgia Conference. In the death of Dr. Thomas, Newton County loses one of her exemplary characters; Oxford one of her best citizens. His burial services were conducted by Dr. J. S. Moore and the body interred in the family burying ground.
