The Georgia Enterprise, April 12, 1888
     In memory of Miss Clifford Vandergriff, born June 12, 1874; died March 28, 
1888.

Bright eyed Clifford thou art gone
To a brighter, holier sphere;
In thy youth’s early dawn
Thou hast left us mourning here.

Darling Clifford, shall we grieve
That we laid thee neath the sod,
From thy home to the grave,
From our arms to those of God?

Wilt thou then not happier be, 
With that glorious angel band,
Happier far, dear Clifford, than we,
Living in this sinful land?

Why then do we grieve for thee
Taken home to Him who gave
Why then feel such misery
Weeping here above thy grave?

God forgive us; give us grace
Grant us when the veil is risen
That we may behold her face
And dwell with her in Heaven.
