The Georgia Enterprise, April 17, 1874
  From the Russian River Flag, of Healdsburg, California, we learn that MR.
JAMES L. WELLS died in that town Sunday morning, March 8, aged 45 years. The
deceased was a brother of our fellow townsman Mr. W. T. Wells, and many of his
relatives are residents of Newton County. From the Flag we copy the following
editorial note:
  Mr. WELLS was a resident of this place for a number of years, and until
overtaken by sickness about two years since, which incapacitated him for 
business, was among our most enterprising citizens and thrifty merchants. His
funeral took place on Tuesday, when all places of business were closed out of 
respect for his memory. Mr. WELLS leaves a wife, who has the sympathy of the 
whole community in her bereavement.
