June 9, 1847, d. July 24, 1877 in a train wreck near Union Point, Georgia. Zachariah was the engineer on the train and the only person to die in the wreck. His remains were buried July 26, 1877. He was only 30 years old. He was the son of James Anderson Armistead and Emily Strong Colley.
