Headstone of "Mattie C., wife of G.B. Stanton", b. Jan. 28, 1843 d. Oct. 21, 1898.
  Believe she was the first wife of John J. Armistead and later the second wife
of George B. Stanton.  Her maiden name was Martha Caroline Eckles.  She was
married to George B. Stanton on Mar 1, 1882.
  She was the mother of C.Z. Armistead, b. ca 1875 and Maud Armistead, b. ca
1877
