Rev. John G. Logan officiating. The home was beautifully decorated with ferns, hyacinth, narcissi and southern smilax. An improvised altar in the rear of the hall formed a pretty background for the wedding party. The four ribbon bearer’s, Mrs. Robert Yarborough, of Atlanta: Misses Ida Shelnut, of Sandersville; Dorothy Lee and Mary Sockwell, of Covington; all wearing white lingerie dresses, and carrying white burning candles, entered first, and were followed by the matron of honor, the bride’s sister, Mrs. C. D. Shelnut, of Sandersville, wearing a pretty white suit. The bride entered with her brother, Mr. John Carter, of Newborn; the groom with his best man, Mr. George Carr, of Covington. Mrs. John J. Corley added much to the impressive of the occasion by the selections played before and during the ceremony, first. “When Love Wakes Up From Sleep.” Just before the ceremony, Mrs. Robert Yarbrough, of Atlanta, sang very sweetly “Because” and “Humoresque” was played softly during the ceremony. The bride wore a handsome blue cloth tailored suit, with hat to match, and carried Parma violets. As the guests entered they were served punch from a prettily decorated table in the parlor by Mrs. Lester Lee, and after the ceremony a delicious salad course with tea was served. Immediately after the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Flemming left on the noon train for Knoxville, the home of the groom, where they will spend a month before returning to Covington, where they will make their future home. The out of town guests included Mrs. John H. James, Mrs. Claud Lee, Mrs. Robert Yarborough, of Atlanta, Mrs. John Walden and daughter, Miss Rosa Lee Ellison, Mrs. P. E. McWilliams, of Stockbridge; Mrs. Ida Chupp Carroll of Lithonia; Mrs. Jas. B. Shelnutt, of Monroe; Mr. and Mrs. Gus Clay, of Walnut Grove; Mr. and Mrs. John Carter, of Newborn; Mrs. C. D. Shelnutt and daughter, Miss Ida Shelnutt, of Sandersville; Miss Fannie McCart, of Newborn; Mr. and Mrs. Mack Carter, of Madison.
