ANDERSON WEDS MR. D. H. UPSHAW ATTRACTIVE COVINGTON GIRL AND POPULAR MONROE MAN JOINED FORTUNES IN BRILLIANT WEDDING. The marriage of Miss Mary Brown Anderson, of Covington, and Mr. Daniel Hess Upshaw of Monroe, took place on Thursday afternoon at 5 o'clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Lee, of Conyers street. The ______ _____ _______ _____ _____ handsome colonial home was thrown together and elaborately decorated in pink roses, sweet peas and smilax. The ceremony took place before an improvised altar of green, flanked by four white pedestals holding baskets of sweet peas and silver candelabra. Miss Martha White Anderson, only sister of the bride, was maid of honor, and the four bridesmaids were Miss Eleanor Wilcox, of Rome, Miss Natalie Turner, of Covington, Miss Glennie Hancock, of Marietta, and Miss Irene Shaw, of Cartersville. The ribbon bearers were little Miss Ora Upshaw and Master John McCarley. The flower girls were Caroline Lee and Helen Bonner. Kirk Swann was ring bearer and Claud Broach was train bearer. The best man was Mr. W. F. Upshaw, of Raleigh, N. C., brother of the groom, and the groomsmen were Messrs. Charles Williams, Rufus Franklin, Berrien Upshaw and James Lester. Mr. J. B. Upshaw, father of the groom, married the couple with the ring ceremony. The bride's costume was made after a Lady Duff-Gordon model in Georgette crepe and tulle. Both the skirt and bodice were trimmed with cordings of satin and garlands of lace, caught with orange blossoms, and carried a bouquet of bride's roses showered with valley lillies. The maid of honor wore a frock of pink Georgette crepe over silver tissue with silver trimmings and a large hat of pink chiffon. Her flowers were pink roses. The bride's maids wore dresses and large hats in the pastel shades and carried gilded staffs tied with bouquets of sweet peas and tulle bows. The little flower girls and the ribbon bearers wore dainty white dresses trimmed with tiny bunches of pink and blue flowers and blue ribbons. Mrs. H. B. Anderson, mother of the bride, wore grey charmeuse with a corsage bouquet of lavender sweet peas. Immediately after the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Upshaw left for a motor trip to Wrightsville Beach, and other points of interest in North Carolina. The bride wore a handsome suit of navy blue satin with a black hat. Miss Irene Shaw, of Cartersville, cut the ring in the bride's cake, and also caught the bride's bouquet. The bride's maids were suite mates of the bride at Shorter College, and all the children in the bridal party with the exception of Caroline Lee and John McCarley, were nieces and nephews of the groom.
