Georgia Enterprise, August 11, 1898
On Thursday last quite a romantic marriage occurred in Covington. The 
contracting parties being Mr. Fred H. Vernon, of Social Circle, and Miss Fannie
Mitcham, of Opelika, Ala. In company with two young gentlemen of Social Circle,
Mr. Vernon came up to see some young ladies visiting Mr. W. B. Lee's family,
having arranged for Rev. W. S. McCarty, of Social Circle, to meet him at Mr.
Lee's home, he surprised the party by presenting himself and lady as candidates
for matrimony. May peace, health and prosperity bless the union.
