It was ten miles to town, and the time for the marriage was only two hours off, so he went down the river a short distance, pulled off his clothes and waded over. He walked to the home of his intended, was united in marriage, secured a batteaux and brought his bride to where he had left his buggy and then proceeded on the way to their own home as happy and contented as if they had been married in a mansion and were traveling in a parlor palace car.
