It will be of interest to many to know of the marriage of Prof. Andrew Sledd to Miss Foncie Candler, which occurred at the home of the bride's parents, Tuesday evening at 9 o'clock, Rev. R. N. Sledd, D. D., of Danville, Va., father of the groom performing the ceremony. The bride is the accomplished daughter of Bishop and Mrs. W. A. Candler and is well known for her lovely disposition, and literary attainments, being a first honor graduate of Wesleyan Female College. The groom holds the responsible position as Professor of Latin in Emory College and no college in the south can boast of a better instructor in that language than he. The happy parties were the recipients of heart-felt congratulations and many pure and costly presents. Many of their Oxford friends witnessed the ceremony together with the following: Mr. W. B. Candler, Sr., Villa Rica; Mr. A. G. Candler, Sr., Miss Lucy Cole, Miss Hortense McClure of Atlanta; Miss Annie Belle Alsops, of Ohio; Mrs. W. A. Wright, Col. and Mrs. Pace, of Covington. Prof. and Mrs. Sledd will immediately go to house-keeping, when they will be at home to their many friends.
