A. Starr, of Starrsville was married to Miss Annie Gay, of Newborn, Dec. 8, Rev. A. C. Cantrell officiated. The ceremony came off at the home of the bride’s parents, Captain W. F. Gay. The house was decorated with beautiful vines flowers and evergreens. The attendants were Miss Grace Lee of Covington, Mr. T. P. Gay, Miss Annie Heard of Covington, Mr. Clifton Belcher of Starrsville. In speaking of the newly married pair the Madison Advertiser says: “Miss Annie is a lady of education, culture and refinement. She has a sweet and gentle nature and her life has been one of sunshine and blessings to all her friends.. The groom, Mr. Starr, is a gentleman of sterling worth and integrity of character. He is one of the most successful business men of Newton county, and is already the possessor of a large share of “fortune’s goods.” The presents received were numerous and costly, attesting in a large degree the popularity of the bride and of the groom.
