Penny Austin Daniel, 45, of Colbert, died Saturday, August 19, 2006.

A native of Oconee County, she was the daughter of Mary Barnett Smith and the 
late Cecil L. Smith. She graduated from Oconee County High School and was 
employed at Carrier Traniscold Company in Athens. Mrs. Daniel was preceded in 
death by her grandfather, A.B. Barnett, Jr.; and a nephew, “JAC” Cranford.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Wayne Daniel; two daughters, Lacie 
Danielle Constance and Betsy Nicole Constance, both of Colbert; three 
brothers, Lacy Smith and Gary Smith, both of Athens, and Jeff Smith, 
Brunswick; four sisters, Ginger Austin, Athens, Susan Austin Cranford, Salem, 
Va., Marcia Smith Jackson, Colbert, and Missy Smith Cobb, Elberton; 
grandmother, Hazel Cash Barnett; and a special pet, Midnight.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 22, in the chapel of Bernstein 
Funeral Home with Mike Brown officiating. Burial was in Evergeeen Memorial 
Park.

Pallbearers were Lacy Smith, Andrew Whitehead, Custis Daniel, Dennis 
Pritchett, Jeff Cranford, and Jeff Fowler.

Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens, was in charge of arrangements.
