Born in Montreal, Canada, on August 10, 1948, she came to Athens in 1979 to accept a nursing position at St. Mary’s Hospital. She became one of the earliest neonatal intensive care nurses in Athens. Her devotion to this profession touched the lives of hundred of infants and families in the greater Athens area over the 27 years that she practiced there. Mrs. Dew was preceded in death by her husband, George Herbert Dew. Survivors include daughters Jessica Daigle Jones and her father, A. Paul Daigle, Leslie Dew (Mrs. Gordon), Bishop, Laurie Dew, Athens; a son, Wallace L. Dew, Danielsville, their maternal grandfather, Wallace Reed; grandchildren, Jacob, Cameron, Harrison, Sierra, and Grayson; her mother, Agnes Heavysege Drewry, The Cedars, Quebec, Canada; and a brother, Geoffrey Drewry, Brownsburg, Quebec, Canada. Memorial services will be held Friday, August 25, at 10 a.m., at the Ray’s United Methodist Church, 1521 Ray’s Church Road, Bishop.
