Ray L. Hooper, 70, of Belmont Community, died Saturday, October 7, 2006, at New Horizons West, following an extended illness. He was born in Oconee County and was the son of the late Arthur and Trudie Christian Hooper. He was a Hall County school teacher, retiring after 31 years, and was a member of Freeman Creek Baptist Church, Farmington. Mr. Hooper was preceded in death by brothers, Robert and Ralph Hooper. Survivors include his wife, Loretta Hooper, Belmont Community; daughters and sons-in-law, Lorraine and Russ Cronic, Gainesville, Latricia Hooper and Randy Simpson, Belmont Community; granddaughter, Erica Hooper, Belmont Community; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rufus and Betty Hooper, Monroe, Roy and Vivian Hooper, Colbert, Raymond and Rita Hooper, Statham; sister-in-law, Louise McNeal, Gainesville, Shirley McNeal, Chestnut Mountain, Connie Hooper, Farmington; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Catherine and Ralph Savage, Homer, and Martha and Larry Puckett, Talmo. Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 10, in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Revs. Bill Compton and Phil Carpenter officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
