    Obituary for Elnora Saxon Townsend                         
 
Obituary:   Elnora Saxon Townsend, 78, passed away Friday, September 03, 2010 
at the St. Mary’s Hospice House. A native of Oconee County, she was the 
daughter of the late Raymond Lee and Dovie Mae Ashley Saxon She was the wife 
of Bobby Townsend for 56 years. She retired from St. Mary’s Hospital after 17 
years and was member of Whitehall Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by 
a sister, Edna Saxon. Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Sunday, September 5, 
2010, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home EAST with the Revs. Buford 
Lockman and Elmer Butler officiating. Burial will be in the Winterville 
Cemetery. Survivors in addition to her husband include children and spouse, 
Debbie (Jimmy) Hembree, Chuck (Angie) Townsend, Bobby (Tracy) Townsend; 
sister, Liz Warren; grandchildren, Mike Hembree, Rusty Hembree, Kevin 
Townsend, Russell Sloan, Cody Townsend, Angeleigh Townsend; great-
grandchildren, Chaelyn, Pressley, Amelia and Jordan. Pallbearers will be Mike 
Hembree, Rusty Hembree, Cody Townsend, Danny Cheek, Doug Watson and John 
Howard The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral 
home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s Hospice House.
