Jack Lumpkin was moderator a door was opened for the------members received by letter from Bethany Brother James Colquitt. Brother Boling requested that he had waited on Bro. Sherwood with the request of prev’s conference. Also desired a reply from Brother Sherwood that he will attend the church as often as convenient. The expediency of temporality this church to Lexington is by this conference thought to be impracticable The desire is therefore a bad one. Bro. Boling applied for a letter of dimiss for him self were ordered to be granted (James Colquitt signs with others as Church Clerk from Nov., 1823 until May 31st, 1828) J. B. James Colquitt was a member of Bethlehem Primitive Baptist church in 1802-1808; a member of Bethany Baptist Church in 1809-1820; a member of Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church in 1821-1828; a member of Bethany Baptist Church in 1828-1836, until his death, before May 21, 1836. He served as Church Clerk at both Churches.
