From Bethany Breth - D. Glenn & B.B. Faust. 3rd Called for reference Bro C.L. Smith appointed to cite - Bro Burt to conference made the excuses for the Bro which were received also Bro Jas. C. Tiller for absence at previous conferences. The case of colored Bro Champion Eades. The committee report as follows -- The committee report that they have investigated the matter of difficult between Bro Green Bell and colored Bro Champion Eades the latter being charged by the former with falsehood and find that the testimony is conflicting, a slight discrepance between the statements made and therefore find considerable difficulty in arriving at the true state of the case but believe from the testimony and all the surrounding circustances that said Champion has done no intentitional wrong and recommend the case dismissed. On motion the report received and the case entered settled.The committee appointed to investigate certain rumors in circulation in regard to Bro Green Bells christian character reported as follows. The committee to whom was refered the investigation of rumors in circulation to the detriment of the christians character of Bro Green Bell and in derogation to the peace and harmony of the Church report. 1st - That they find the following rumor circulating against Bro Bell 1st - Rumor, Falsehood 1st - Specification In that he Bro Bell said he knew nothing of the objections urged against the sale of the Pass Estate lands and afterwards denied the statement. 2nd - Having sought legal advice in view to prosecuting Bro Eberhart for throwing Fodder out of a house belonging to the Pass Estate and afterwards denying having bought such advice. 3rd - Specification, In that he denied making the denial recited in the 2nd Specification. 4th - Specification In that he said he rented land from Jno. Eberhart __ Administrator about the last of April or the first of May and could or would hold it for twelve months and afterwards denied making the statement. 2nd - Rumor, Fraud, Specification In that he paid rent of the lightest or most inferior corn raised on land rented of the Pass Estate for which he was to pay a certain portion of produce of said land. 3rd - Rumor, Violation of Contract Specification In that he refused to pay a debt due the Estate of John M. Callaway dec. which he had repeatedly promised to pay. The refusal being at the time he had the money on hand. 4th - Rumor, Unchristian Conduct Specification In that he hauled a load of shucks from the premises of Dr. Davenport without authority from the said Davenport or his agent. The committee further report that after mature prayerful and impartial investigation of the charges and specifications alleged against Bro Bell in rumors above recited that they find as follows. 1st Specification of 1st charge -------------Guilty 2nd Specification of charge -------------Guilty 3rd Specification of charge -------------Guilty 4th Specification of charge -------------Guilty 1st Charge ----------------------------------Guilty 2nd Charge (Fraud)--------------------------Not Guilty 3rd Charge (Violation of Contract) ----------Guilty 4th Charge Guilty without criminal intent. The committee recoment that charge the 1st with specification 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th and charge 3rd with specification be entered upon the minutes and Bro Bell be called to answer before the Chhurch. The committee further recomend that charges 2nd & 4th be dismissed on motion the report of the committee was received and the recommendation adopted. On motion the additional charge of contempt was prefered against Bro Bell in abruptly leaving the conference without leave of the moderator after investigation of the charges and specifications as recommended the Church decided that Bro Bell was guilty - of the charges of Falsehood & violation of control with their specifications and on motion the Bro was excluded. The case of colored Bro Grange Eschols the committee report that they have seen the Bro who denies the charge on motion continued the case with the same committee & Brother W.M. Settle & J.R.W. Huff to investigate & report. Bro Jno. Eberhart __ was excused for absence to day appointed. Bro J.W. Gunter to cite Bro David Mattox to next conference also Bro F.E. Goolsby to cite Bro R.N. Hammond to conference. Appointed correspondents to Bethany Brether F.E. Goolsby, Geo. Huff, C.T. Smith, W.M. Settle. To Cloud Creek A. Eberhart, J.G. Gibson & A. Witcher. Appointed delegates to the Union Meeting to be held with Moors Grove Church to wit Brether J.W. Martin, A. Witcher, B.H. Witcher, A. Eberhart & J.G. Hartsfield. Read the Church Decorum, called the roll and marked Brether G. Bridges & Marvin Huff. Read and adopted the minutes In motion conference adjourned. W.M. Settle J.G. Gibson Clk. Mod.
