Collier of the county and state aforesaid Of the first part, and Sarah E. Colquitt (daughter of John V. Collier) and her children now living to wit Myrtice Colquitt wife of Alfred Colquitt—John Colquitt Jr. Bettie Colquitt Willie Colquitt—Joseph Colquitt and any children to be born of Sarah E. Colquitt of the second part: Witnesseth, That the said party of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand five hundred and twenty five dollars ($1525.00 ) to have in hand well and truly paid by the said party of the second part, at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained, sold, released, conveyed and confirmed, and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell, release, convey, and confirm, unto the said party of the second part, their heirs----------------and assigns, All that lot or parcel of land situate laying and being in the county aforesaid containing Three Hundred and Twenty two and one half acers (322 ½ ) more or less. Adjoining lands of George W. Whitehead—S. H. Stokely—G. T. Howard—F. R. Howard –John W. Jarrell and others—Said land being the same that was conveyed by two deeds, one of which deeds from John Glenn to James S. Sims dated November 30th 1874 conveyed one hundred and sixty one and a half acres of land more or less and said deed recorded in book W. on pages 599 and 600 in the Clerk’s Office Superior Court of said county: the other deed from John Glenn to John V. Collier dated October 4th 1877 and conveyed one hundred and sixty one acres more or less and recorded in Book X on pages 414 & 415 in the Clerk’s Office’s Superior Court of said county—one of said tracts of land to wit the one of one hundred and sixty one and a half acres which was conveyed by John Glenn to James S. Sims in the 30th of November 1874 is the same tract which was conveyed by John B. Martin Trustee for James S. Sims—P. A. P. Sims—S. A. M. Martin and William H. Sims to John V. Collier by deed dated November 22nd 1880 said deed not yet recorded. Together with all and singular the rights, easements, ways, members, and appurtenances, to the said Tract or parcel of land, being, belonging , or in anywise appertaining, and the remainders, reversions, rents, issues, and profits thereof, and every part thereof: To Have and to Hold, the said tract or parcel of land, and all and singular the premises and appurtenances thereunto belonging, as aforesaid, and every part thereof, unto the said party of the second part, their heirs-----------and assigns forever. And the said party of the first part, and his heirs and assigns the said tract or lot of land, and premises aforesaid, and every part thereof, unto the said party of the second part, their heirs and assigns, against him the said party of the first part, and his heirs and assigns and all and every other person and persons whomsoever,----- -----------------shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In the history of Oglethorpe County it states that this land was given to Mrs. Sarah E. Colquitt by her brother, Locke Collier. This tract of land was given by John V. Collier to his daughter , Sarah E. Collier and her children. This information is copied from original deed held by the family.
