Devenport of the other part, witnesseth that the said Joseph Hubbard for the consideration of forty dollars to him in hand paid by the said Martin S. Devenport the receipt of which he the sd Joseph Hubbard doth hereby acknowledge hath granted, bargained sold & confirmed & by these presents doth grant bargain sell & confirm unto the said Martin S. Devenport & to the heirs & assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land lying & being in the aforesaid County of Oglethorpe & on the water of Indian Creek containing twenty acres, be the same more or less, bounded as follows, Beginning at a Sassafrass stake running S 80 W 17ch 50lks to a R. oak corner on sd Devenports line thence S. 9. W. 10 ch 75lks to a R. oak corner to a R. oak on J.Kidds line thence S. 54. E 9 chain to a hickory corner on J Hubbard line thence to the beginning Corner To have and to hold the above granted & sold land with all woods &c thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining thereunto & the said Joseph Hubbard for himself his heirs Exrs admrs assigns doth hereby covenant and agree to & with the sd Martin S. Devenport the above granted & sold twenty acres of land, Together with all & singular the appertenance thereunto belonging to the sd Martin S. Devenport and his heirs & assigns forever from the claim and demand of all persons or any persons whatsoever shall & will warrant and forever defend by these presents In Witness whereof the sd Joseph Hubbard hath hereunto set his hand & affixed his seal the day & year above written Signed sealed & delivered in the presence of Joseph Hubbard attest P.
