All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Beth Collins collins@negia.net July 23, 2003, 4:14 pm Written: January 16 1807 Recorded: July 18 1807 Oglethorpe County, Deed Book E, page 181-182 This Indenture made this sixteenth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred & seven Between Groves Howard & Lucy his wife of the one part & John Davenport of the other part All of the County of Oglethorpe & State of Georgia Witnesseth that the said Groves Howard & Lucy his wife, hath for & in consideration of the sum of ten thousand dollars to them in hand paid before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged Have bargained sold released & confirmed & do by these presents grant bargain sell release &confirm unto the said John Davenport his heirs executors administrators or assigns forever One certain tract or parcel of land, situate lying & being in the County aforesaid on Moores Creek a branch of Broad River, containing by estimation four hundred acres be the same more or less it being a part of the tract of Land the said Groves Howard purchased of Abel Howard & adjoining lands now belonging to Thos Pass Wm Harvie, Thos Merewether, James Davenport decd. & Alexander Elliott Beginning at a white oak cur S 51 W 6 ch. 50 lks of William Harvie’s S. 20 E. crossing the creek & a black oak corner S. 34 to a white oak corner then Thos Riddles thence N. 65 W 6 ch to a Black oak corner on the creek thence up the creek 6 chs to a red oak corner S. 51. 6 ch 50 lks to a white oak corner. S. 20 E. 18 ch. 50 lks to a Dogwood corner and Johnsons old road & Davenports line, thence with the old road to a white oak corner of James Davenports on Alex Elliotts line thence with his line N. 20 to a stake & pine on Thomas Pass line, thence N. 68 to the beginning Together with all & singular the rights members and appertenances thereof to the said tract or parcel of land belonging or in any wise appertaining with the remainders reversions rents issues & profits & of any part thereof To have and to hold the said tract of land with all & singular the premises and appertenances thereunto belonging as aforesaid & every part thereof unto the said John Davenport his heirs & assigns forever to the only proper use benefit & behoof of him the said John Davenport his heirs & assigns forever the said Groves Howard & Lucy his wife & their heirs & against all & every other person or persons whatsoever shall & will warrant & forever defend by these presence -- In Witness whereof the said Groves Howard & Lucy his wife have hereunto set their hands the day & year first above written Signed Sealed & Delivered in the presence of Groves Howard Valentine Merriwether William Glenn Clement Glenn J.P.
