Witnesseth that the said John Goolsby Senr. for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath sold and delivered and by these presents doth sell and deliver to his son John Goolsby Junr. a certain tract or parcel of land containing two hundred and fourteen acres and a half be the same more or less lying on Broad River and bounds as followeth (to wit) Beginning on a poplar --- near Webbs Ferry on the river thence S 33 chains to a red oak -----thence S 5 W 52 chains to a hickory ----with Wm Goolsbys land thence N 20 E 15.50 links to a red oak ---- with John Marrs land thence with N Johnsons land to a pine ---- thence with Richard Bellamys line N 31 W. 37 to dead white oak ---on a branch thence S. 5 ch. across branch to a red oak ---thence up the river as it meanders to the beginning poplar ---to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land and premises to him the said John Goolsby Junr. his heirs and assigns forever in fee simple and the said John Goolsby Senr. doth for himself his heirs executors administrators and assigns covenant and agree with the said John Goolsby Junr. His son to warrant and defend the said tract of land and premises to and for his son John Gooldsby Junr. his heirs and assigns forever free from all claims rights, titles, or demands of the said John Goolsby Senr. his heirs and assigns or any other person or persons whatsoever. In Witness whereof the said John Goolsby Senr. , hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year above written Signed sealed and acknowledged In the presence of us T. Taylor John Marr John (X) Goolsby, Senr Personally came Thomas Taylor one of the subscribing witnesses and made oath that he saw John Goolsby Senr. make his mark and acknowledge it for the above contents.
