Submitted by: Doris Irons Greer caldor@neto.com ************************************************************************* **************************************************** Georgia } This Indenture made this the fourteenth day of May in the year of our Lord one Thousand eight hundred ("dollars" marked thru) Sixteen between John Brown President of the University of Georgia on the part of the trustee of the University of the one part and William Greer of the County of Oglethorpe and the State aforesaid of the other part witnessith that the Said John Brown upon said in consideration of the Sum of Six hundred & Seventeen dollars into the Treasury of this said University, well and Truly paid at and before the Sealing and Delivery of these Presents the receipt whereof is truly acknowledged - both for and on the part of the trustees granted bargained and sold and doth by these presents grant Bargain and sell unto the said William Greer his heirs and Assigned forever all those lots or parcel of Land Situated lying and being in the five Thousand acre track of ____s ____d and in the county of Oglethorpe and State aforesaid on the water of Fishing Creek Belonging to the Trustee containing one hundred Acres each be the Same more or less which said lots of Land are thirty five (No 35) thirty Six (No 36) & thirty Seven (No 37) To have and to hold the said lots as parts of Land and all said singular the Premises hereby bargained and sold with their and said usery of their rights members and appurtenances unto the this said William Greer his heirs and assigns in fee simple. And the Said John Brown President as aforesaid for the Trustees of the University of Georgia and their liaison in office and not in his individual capacity Shall and with all respect and power defend the Premises aforesaid unto the Law William Greer his heirs and assigns against all every Person and Persons. Whereas the said lots as Parcels of land or Part thereof are now under lease made by the said trustee of the university it is convenanted and agreed by and between the said Parties that the Said William Greer Shall not have possession of the said Lake or parcel of land on the part thereof so leased -- until the twenty fifth of December eighteen hundred and Seventeen. Then the Said lease will expire subject to which lease the said lots or parcels of land or part thereof are sold and hereby consigned in witness whereof the said John Brown hath hereunto sat his affixed hand and affixed the Seal of the Said university the day and year above wirtten.
