Indenture bet Alsey Hartsfield et al & George James 05 May 1809 Oglethorpe Co, GA This Indenture made the 5th day of May one thousand eight hundred & nine between Alsey Hartsfield and Josaih B. Homes executors of Godfrey Hartsfield decd. of the County of Wilkes of the one part and George James of the County of Oglethorpe & State of Georgia of the other part, Witnesseth that the said Alsey Hartsfield & Josiah B. Holmes Exrs. of Godfrey Hartsfield decd. for an in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars to them in hand paid the receipt wherof they do hereby acknowledge and hath granted bargained Sold Aliened and confirmed and by htese presents hereby bargain sell alien and confirm unto the said George James his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Oglethorpe on the waters of Long Creek and bounded as follow, to wit, beginning on a corner Post oak adjoining formerly Richd. Morris land thence S 15 E 46 pole to red oak corner, thence S 75 W 43.50 to corner post oak, thence N 15 W 46 to a corner chesnut, thence N 75 E 43.50 to the begining containing two hundred Acres, be the same more or less, which land was granted to Godfrey Hartsfield the 7th day of May 1784. To have and to hold the sd. land and premises within bounds above mentioned together with all its priveledges and advantages therunto belonging or in anywise appertaining to the only use and behoof of himie the said George James his heirs and assings for ever, free from all encumberances, and the said Alsey Hartsfield &C. dothe oblige himself his heirs &C. to warrant and defend the said Land and premises above mentioned unto the above named George James his heirs & assigns forever In Witness wherof they have hereunto set their hands and Seals the day & year above Written Attest (the words, be the same more or less, interlined before signed) Alsey Hartsfield Josiah B.
