Indenture bet Godfrey Hartsfield & James Hail 16 Jan 1809 Oglethorpe Co, GA This Indenture made this Sixteenth day of January in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred & nine Between Godfrey Hartsfield of the State aforesaid of the one part and James Hail of the County & State aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth that the said Godfrey Hartsfield for & in consideration of the Sum of three hundred dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof I the said Hartsfield doth hereby acknowledge, hath bargained Sold and released unto the said Hail all that tract or parcel of land Situate lying & bieng in the aforesaid State & County, on the waters of Clouds Creek butting and bounding as follows. Beginning at a red oak runing E seventy five deg. N. four chains to a hickory thence N 49 W. Six chain & Seventy links to a stake thence # 49 N. five chains & 19 links to a red oak thence E 56 N fifteen chains & 50 l. to a post oack thence N 49 W. Eleven ch. & 41 links to a post O. thence due W. thirty six ch. & 81 links to a post O. thence W. 48 S. fifteen chs. & 61 links to a chesnut, thence a direct course aiming to the begining corner until it strikes the branch thence with the said Branch as it meanders to the said begining Joing Isaiah McElroy, Richd. Roberts old tract & Moses Herren, a tract granted to Anthony Olive & a tract to said Hails, containing one hundred & nine, or more, tohim the said James Hail his heirs & assigns all the said tract or parcel of land as above described, together with all and Singular the premises, profits, advantages, & productions thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining thereunto. To have & to hold forever in fee Simple, I Said Godfrey Hartsfield doth bind myself my heirs executors and administrators & assigns by these presents to warrant & forever defend the said tract of land with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging to him the said James Hail his heirs & assigns from the claim or claims of every person or persons whatsoever.
