Mathews To Obadiah Stephens Deed book O page 186 & 187 (page 186) Georgia ] This Indenture made this Oglethorpe County ] Thirteenth of November in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty four Between Jacob Mathews of the County and State aforesaid of the one part and Obadiah Stephens of the same place of the other part Witnesseth that the said Jacob G. Mathews for and in consideration of the sum of seven hundred dollars to him in hand paid at and before the sealing and Delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold and conveyed and do by these presents grant bargain sell and convey unto the said Obadiah Stephens his Heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel of land Situate lying and being in the county and state aforesaid and on the waters of Dryfork and Buffalo Creeks containing two hundred and seventy seven acres more of less known in the plat of the Division of Josiah Jordan Sen. Deceased land as No. four which lot fell to the Said Jacob G. Mathews office in right of his wife Winney Mathews formerly Winney Jordan two hundred Acres (page187) of the above named land granted to Samuel Tait dated 9th of June 1806 and seventy seven Acres being part of a 485 Acre tract granted to Josiah Jordan dated the 25th of May 1790 one tract containing sixty seven 9/10 Acres granted to Jacob G. Mathews dated the 4th of December 1823 all making three hundred and forty four 9/10 Acres. To have and to hold said tract or parcel of land unto him the said Obadiah Stephens his Heirs and assigns together with all and Singular the Rights members and appurtenances there of to the same in any Manner belonging to his and their own proper use benefit and behoof forever in fee simple and the said Jacob G. Mathews for himself his heirs executors and administrators the said bargained premises unto the said Obadiah Stephens his heirs and assigns will Warrant and forever Defend the Rights and title thereof against themselves and against the claim of all other persons whatever. In Witness whereof the said Jacob G. Mathews hath hereunto set his hand and seal this day and year above written. Signed Sealed and delivered In presence of Jacob G. Mathews {seal} John V. Collier Thos. Laurence Georgia ] Personally came before Oglethorpe County ] me Thos. Laurence and After being duly sworn deposed and saith that he saw Jacob G. Mathews sign the within deed for the purposes there in contained and he signed it himself as a witness and John V. Collier did the same Thos. T. Mathews, Nov 14th 1833 And moved to Stewart County Ga. John moved back to Oglethorpe Co. Before 1850 with children and married Elizabeth Goolsby Bush, August 26, 1846, widow of Wiley Bush.
