This file was contributed by: Nona Thornton gagenlady@charter.net ==================================================================== Oglethorpe County, GA, Deed Book O, page 517-518 Indenture between Henry Raines and Harrison L Thornton, 3 February 1835 This Indenture made this the third day of February Eighteen hundred & thirty five Between HENRY RAINES of the county & state aforesaid of the one part and HARRISON L THORNTON of the same place of the other part Witnesseth that the said HENRY RAINES for & in consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained & sold and by these presents doth sell bargain & convey unto the said HARRISON L THORNTON his heirs & assigns a certain tract or parcel of land containing one hundred acres of land more or less & being in the county & state aforesaid & on the waters of Indian Creek Beginning at a maple & running E 13 ch 25 to a white oak thence N 51ch to a Hickory thence W 23 ch to red oak thence S 34 ch to a pine thence W 12ch 50 link to a poplar thence with the various meanderings of the branch to the beginning corner to have & to hold the said tract or parcel of land & presences aforesaid to him the said HARRISON L THORNTON his heirs & assigns forever and the said HENRY RAINES for himself his heirs administrators & I do warrant and forever defend the said tract of land & every part thereof unto the said HARRISON L THORNTON his heirs & assigns in fee simple free from the claimes [sic] of all persons whatsoever In witness whereof my seal the day & year above written signed sealed and delivered in presence of HENRY RAINES seal SEABORN WILDER JONATHAN W RAINES J.P.
