	This indenture made this the thirtieth day of December in the year of 
our Lord Eighteen hundred and twenty three between Mathew Varner of the county 
and State of foresaid of the one part and William Ellis Jr. of the same place 
of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Mathew Varner for and in 
consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to him in hand paid the receipt 
whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold and conveyed unto 
the same and do by these presents grant bargain sell and convey unto the said 
William Ellis Jr. all that tract or parcel of land situated lying and being in 
the County and State aforesaid beginning at a Poplar running West eighty chains 
and fifty links to a pine thence North eighty five East seventy eight chains to 
a Hickory thence South seventy three East seven chains and seventy five links 
to a dogwood thence South twenty East three chain to the beginning poplar be 
the same more or less. To have and to hold together with all and singular the 
rights members and appurtenances belonging thereunto and the said Mathew Varner 
for himself his heirs and assigns do by these presents relinquish all rite and 
title and claim unto the said William Ellis Jr. his heirs and assigns.  In 
witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and 
year above written.
