Hon. O. H. Arnold’s 
Funeral Sunday 

Large Concourse of Friends 
Pay Loving Tribute to 
His Memory. 

Sunday morning at eleven o’clock at the Baptist church in Lexington, Ga, was 
held the funeral of Mr. Oliver H. Arnold, SR, who died in that place Friday 
after a long illness. 

A large number of friends from this city went down to be present at the funeral 
and from all over the state warm friends came to pay tribute to  his memory. 

The Baptist church was crowded beyond its capacity and the funeral services 
were solemn and impressive.  The floral offerings were many and beautiful, and 
at tented the high esteem in which the distinguished citizen was held by his 
friends. 

Mr. Arnold had been a member of the Baptist church all his life, having joined 
at the early age of fourteen years.  Thus for nearly sixty years he had 
followed in the footsteps of the Master and was in the highest sense a shining 
light in the Christian community. 

The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Phil W. Davis and was a most beautiful 
tribute to the lofty character of the deceased.  The casket was borne from the 
church by the pall bearers, Messrs. W. M. Howard, A. A. Rayle, Charles Hunter, 
Frank Alexander, T. G. Lester, J. J. Smith, T. W. Crawford and James Gregory, 
Dr. William Fause, Dr. W. H. Reynolds, Chancellor Barrow and Mr. Thomas Bailey 
acted as honorary escort. The interment was in the cemetery in Lexington.
