The former Janie Gunter, daughter of John B. and Mary Young Gunter, she was born Dec. 27, 1890, in Oglethorpe County. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Elbert Olean Bailey Sept. 22, 1942. She was a housewife and a member of Nashville United Methodist Church and had lived in Berrien County since 1935. The Rev. Marvin Mathis officiated the 4 pm service at Nashville Mission. The Rev. and Mrs. Ronnie Luke sang "Will The Circle Be Unbroken" and "No Tears In Heaven." Burial was in Westview Cemetery. Active pallbearers were grandsons and grandson-in-law, Braxton Bailey, Bobby and Melvin Murray, Dewey and Billy Jack May and Wayne Lindsey. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Julia Murray and Mrs. Kathleen May, both of Nashville; four sons, Emory and Henry Bailey, both of Nashville, Raleigh Bailey, Valdosta, and Paul Bailey of Winter Park, Fla.; one sister, Mars. W. L. Boggs of Stephens; one brother, Brewer Gunter of Athens; 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
