Oglethorpe Echo, August 26, 1887
  After a lingering illness, Mr. Jonathan Bell, once a most prominent citizen 
of our county, died at his home in Goosepond district on Monday night last. Mr. 
Bell was one of the oldest and best known men of the county, being at one time 
among its most wealthy citizens, but that same calamity that made many rich men 
poor fell heavily upon him, since when he has lived a rather secluded life upon 
his old homestead. He leaves many descendants to mourn for him.
