Oglethorpe Echo Friday, September 9th, 1892
An aged Citizen Gone
   
    We regret to chronicle the death of Mr. Jno. R. Colquitt, which occurred 
at his home near Clouds Creek church on Thursday evening of last week, after 
a lingering illness with that dread disease dropsy.

His remains were intered in the family buring grounds Friday, followed by a 
large concourse of friends.

He was one of the county’s best and oldest citizens, and held the confidence 
and esteem of his many friends and acquaintances.  He leaves a wife and 
several children to mourn his demise, who have the sympathy
Of many friends in their sore afflictions.
