Obituary for Robert Lewis Escoe Obituary: Crawford - Robert Lewis Escoe age 66, passed away Sunday, October, 3, 2010 peacefully at home following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 19, 1944 in Athens, Ga. To the late Lewis and Geraldine Escoe. He graduated from Oglethorpe High School in 1962. He attended The Athens Technical Institute and the University of Georgia. Robert served in the US Army with the 587th Signal Corps, during the Vietnam War, and was stationed at Camp Rainier (Dau Tieng) Vietnam, he attained the rank of sergeant. Robert was a member of Clouds Creek Baptist Church. He was Chairman of the Board for the First Reliance Federal Credit Union from 1981 until his passing. He served as president of the N. E. GA Credit Union from 1990 – 93 and was awarded the Moses C, Davis volunteer of the year award in 1990. He volunteered for the United Way from 1981 – 92. While with the United Way he was the Loaned Executive from Reliance Electric for 1984 -89, and served on their Board and as President. Robert retired from Reliance Electric in 2001 after 33 years. Robert is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sandra Harrison Escoe, and grandson, Quinton Toney of the home. Son, Robert Escoe Jr. of Marietta. Daughter, Cynthia Toney and granddaughters, Darian and Brandee Toney of Lexington. Brother and Sister in law, Marcus and Patti Escoe of Maxeys. Sisters, Linda Escoe of Comer and Angela Nelms of Crawford. Funeral services for Robert L. Escoe will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Clouds Creek Baptist Church, followed by his interment at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 till 8 on Monday, October 4, 2010 at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home East Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clouds Creek Baptist Church Building Fund.
