Mr.Grimes was a native of Oglethorpe County, a son of the late Robert O.B. Grimes and Fannie L. Mattox Grimes. He was a retired farmer and of Methodist faith. His wife, Mrs Maggie Shields Grimes, died October 22,1971,she is at rest at Mount Pleasant Church on Hwy.22 between Lexington and Comer Ga..Mr.Grimes's Survivors are, Mrs Martha Olivia Grimes Saxon Adkins,Mrs. Sara Brooks of Crawford ,Mrs Nellie Q. Compton of Stephens; three brothers, George G. Grimes, Mike Grimes & Paul B.Grimes all of Crawford; several Nieces and Nephews. Funeral services were held Friday at 3:00 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Church on Hwy.22 between Lexington and Comer Ga. with the Rev.Sam McDowell officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers: Douglas Nation, Eddie Saxon,Jack Wilson, Sidney Grimes, Carl Grimes, Claude Grimes.The body was at Martin Funeral Home and was placed in the church at 2:00 p.m..
