Houser Mr. Robert Gainfort Houser lived in Arnoldsville, Georgia. - Mr. Robert Gainfort Houser was, 82 and died November 10, 2011. He was Born in Bessemer City, NC, he was the son of the late Eunice Becknell and Noah Houser. Mr. Houser was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Houser, granddaughter, Sara Houser, and 12 brothers and sisters. Mr. Houser had several educational accomplishments. He was a 1951 graduate of Berry College with a BS in Agriculture, a 1954 graduate of the University of Georgia with a BS in Agriculture, and received both his Masters and Specialist (6 year) Degrees in education from the University of Georgia. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War from 1951 - 1953. Mr. Houser was an Agriculture teacher from 1954-1965, an Area Livestock Specialist in Agriculture from 1965-1972, a high school principal from 1972- 1975 and Area Livestock Specialist in Agriculture from 1975-1983. He served as Mayor of Arnoldsville from 1996-2003 and served on the city council from 2003- 2010. Mr. Houser worked as a farmer and cattle owner most of his life. He was a member of the Georgia and National Cattleman’s Association and an inductee into the Georgia Cattleman’s Hall of Fame. Survivors include his daughter, Ann Houser; sons, Bobby Houser and Bill (Sandy) Houser, all of Arnoldsville; daughter, Debra (Joel) Kriner of Kernersville, SC; sister, Clara Warwick of Jacksonville, FL; brother, Ben Houser of Cherryville, NC; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Sunday, November 13, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Lord & Stephens Chapel, EAST with Rev. Buford Lockman officiating. Interment will be in Arnoldsville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bobby Seagraves, Scott Fleming, Tommy Fleming, Sean Patat, Billy Sanders and Hugh Wilcox. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
