MR. A CHANDLER STEVENS DIES  
AT SANDY CROSS

Prominent Knight Pythias
Called to Great Beyond 
Well Known in Athens 

The many friends in this city and the surrounding country will be grieved to 
learn of the death of Mr. A Chandler Stevens which occurred yesterday at his 
residence at Sandy Cross, Georgia, near Crawford. 

Mr. Stevens was well known in Athens and he was in the city often on 
business.  He was prominent in the business world here and in the immediate 
community in which he lived and his death is a loss to his community. 

The funeral will be held today at eleven o’clock, Eastern time, from the 
Baptist church at Sandy Cross and the interment will be made in the family 
burial grounds at Sandy Cross.  The Rev. W. H. Faust of Winder, will 
officiate. 

Surviving Mr. Stevens is his widow, Mrs. Lester F Stevens; one son Walter 
Stevens of Carlton; and two brothers, A. P. Stevens of Carlton, and Joe A 
Stevens, of the American Expeditionary Forces in France.  He is survived by 
five sisters;  Mrs. P E Glynn, of Atlanta; Mrs. W. Z. Faust, of Lexington; 
Miss Cynthia Stevens and Miss Nelle Stevens, of Sandy Cross. 

Mr. Stevens was a prominent member of the Knights of Pythias and during his 
life took quite an interest in the work and affairs of that fraternal 
organization.
