Stevens Obituary The Oglethorpe Echo, January 4, 1895 Mrs. J. R. Stevens Dead The announcement of the death, on Monday night last, of Mrs. J. R. Stevens, at her home in Grove Creek district, was a shock to almost the entire county. Though she had been complaining for several days her death was unexpected. She was one of the best women of the county, beloved by a large circle of acquaintances. She leaves a sorrowing husband and several children to mourn their bereavement. Her remains were laid to rest in the family burying ground Wednesday, the large number gathering to pay her a last tribute of respect to her memory attesting the esteem in which she was held.
