Edwards of said State and county, being of advanced age but of sound and disposing mind and memory, knowing that I must shortly depart this life, deem it right and proper both as regards my family and myself, that I should make a disposition of the property with which a kind Providence has blessed me – I do therefore make this my last will and testament. First: I desire and direct that my body be buried in a decent and christianlike manner, suitable to my circumstances and condition in life. My soul I trust shall return to rest with God who gave it, as I hope for Salvation through the merits and atonement of the blessed Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Secondly: I desire that all my just debts be paid by my executor (my son L. J. Edwards). Thirdly: I give to my son, L. J. Edwards, One Hundred and Twenty acres of land more or less and to my son G. M. Edwards Ninety Five acres more or less, and to my daughter M. J. Young Ninety Five acres more or less, and to my son B. C. Edwards One Hundred and Sixteen and a half more or less – which parcel or parcels of land I have this day described I deeds to each, with plats attached – on the following conditions, to wit: that each of the above named heirs shall, at my death, if not done previous to that date, sign a written obligation to pay out of proceeds of land deeded to them ($25.00) Twenty Five Dollars each and every year to their mother Jane Edwards for and during her widowhood. Fourthly: I desire that my wife Jane Edwards have and hold possession of the two front rooms of the house on Home Tract with furniture therein for and during her natural life or widowhood, to use as she sees proper or dispose of as she sees fit, except the two rooms which at her death or marriage belongs to her son B.C. Edwards. Fifthly: I desire and direct that all my perishable property after my death – except content of the two front rooms above described – be sold and equally divided among my wife and children. Sixth: I hereby constitute and appoint my son L. J. Edwards executor of this my last will and testament this 15th day of December 1887. M. W. Edwards Signed, declared and published by M. W. Edwards as his last will and testament in the presence of us, the subscribers, who subscribed our names hereto in the presence of said testator at his instance and request and in the presence of each other - he signing in our presence and we signing in his presence.
