GA, Will Book B, pages 108-9, dated 4 January 1812 probated 8 March 1815 In the Name of God Amen, I, PETER GOOLSBY of s'd Co & State being in perfect state of health and of sound mind and memory, and calling to mind the mortality of all, wish to ordain this my last WILL and Testament - 1st. I give unto my beloved wife, MARY GOOLSBY, one negro girl known as MINT, during her natural life & after her death the negro girl & her increase should go to my son RICHARD GOOLSBY to dispose of at his will. 2nd. I give unto my son RICHARD GOOLSBY 3 negroes, namely, POMPY, ISAAC, & PEGGY, also all my land which I now possess; also all my stock of every kind, also all & singular my goods and chattels, consisting of household & kithing furniture, also all my grain of every sort, & every other vegetable, to him & at his disposal forever. 3rd. I give unto my daughter, SARAH MURRY GOOLSBY $5.00. 4th. I give unto WILLIAM JENNINGS 2 negroes namely, ROBERT & QUEEN to him & at his disposal forever. 5th. I give unto my daughter, MOLLY O. JOHNSON 3 negroes, namely; STEPHEN, MILLEY, DELFA, to her & at her disposal forever. 6th. I give unto my daughter, , REBECCA RIDDLE, 3 negroes namely; JIMMY, LOT, MATILDA, to her disposal forever. 7th. I give to my daughter, LUCY GOOLSBY, $50. for her disposal forever. 8th. I give unto my daughter, ELIZABETH STEPHENS, namely NANNY & ANN to her & at her disposal forever. 9. I give unto SIMEON GOOLSBY one negro boy known as PATRICK when he arrives at the age of 21 years, also my desire is that my son RICHARD GOOLSBY should take care of the said negro boy & take care of him for him til he arrives to the age of twenty. 10th. My will is that all debts that may be owing to me at my decease, also all my monies which may be in hand at my death should go to my son RICHARD GOOLSBY, to him at his disposal. 11th. I also appoint RICHARD GOOLSBY & JOHN THORNTON, executors to this my last WILL & Testament, revoking all others heretofore made by me. In Testamoney whereof I hereunto set my hand & seal... All witnesses except RENNY EADES came into court to say they had witnessed the signing of the article herein shown as the Will of PETER GOOLSBY. RENNEY EADES having died in 1813-14 therefore not able to be there. Also said they all signed, even RENNEY EADES in each other's presence, and that PETER GOOLSBY was under no stress in the making of this WILL. before MAT RAINEY CCO & recorded 8 March 1815 by same.
