Will of Soloman Jennings, 1854, Oglethorpe Co. GA Submitted by Barbara Walker Winge Soloman Jennings Georgia Oglethrope County, March 1st 1854 I Soloman Jennings of the State and County aforesaid, being of sound mind, but old and infirm in body, and soon must go the way of all the earth, do make the following bequests, they being my last Will & Testament. Item 1st - I bequeath to my wife Nancy Jennings my land whereon we live and all the appertenances, Thereto belonging,(except what will be named in the next Item) during her life, and after her death then it is to belong to my grandson Thomas Jennings. I bequeath to her all my stock of Horses, Cattle, Sheep and hogs, with the growing crop gathered in & all provisions that may be on hand, and all the plantation tools Kitchen and household furniture of every description. I also bequeath to her the following negroes namely, Fanny, Lucy, Feby, Rozetta, Anthony, Harvey, Jordan Winny, Matilda, Turner, Mary, Fony, William Turner, Jr. Item 2nd - I bequeath to my son Soloman Jennings all the land beyond the Creek to the corner of J. Hoppers fence and from there, on a straight line to the old mill house, also the land on which he has set out a young orchard and the following negroes, Aley, and her four children. Item 3rd - I bequeath to my Grand Daughter Jilly Jennings, Jane a negro girl. Item 4th - I bequeath to my grandson Thomas Jennings the following negroes namely, Daniel, Edmond, and July Ann - Item 5th - I bequeath to my Daughter Altha Hardman the following negroes Kilem, Mariah and Harriet her child. Item 6th - I bequeath to my two grandsons Jasper and William Jennings, the following boys, Charles and Henry. Item 7th - I bequeath to my Daughter Sidney Goodsby the boy Jim. Item 8th - all the property that I have bequeathed to my wife, she is at liberty to make any disposition of it that she may see proper while she lives. Item 9th - I bequeath to my son David Jennings, five dollars- Item 10th - I bequeath to my son in law J. W. Bottom Ten dollars- Item 11th - no bequeast that are herein made shall be paid out during my wifes life time unless it meets her approbation. Item 12th - If there should be any property at my death which is not named in my will it shall be disposed of as my wife may see proper.
