Wll of John Powell, Oglethorpe Co. GA From: Meredith Clapper In the Name of God Amen, I John Powell of the county of Oglethorpe being weak & low in body but of sound mind & memory & knowing that it is appointed once for all men to die, do make constitute & ordain this my last will & testament in maner (sic) & form following (to wit). In the first place it is my will & desire that all my just debts should be paid out of my estate, Item I lend to my beloved wife Boys Powell during her natural life or widowhood one third of the tract of land I now live on & then to go to my son John Powell I also lend her one Negro woman Dinar one one sorrel mare, bed & furniture, all my pewter pots & other kitching (sic) furniture. Item I give to my beloved son Abram Powell twenty shillings to be paid him out of my Estate. Item I give to my beloved daughter Elizebeth (sic) Bell one Negro woman, Milly. Item I give to my beloved son John Powell the tract of land whereon I now live, to take possession of at any time, allowing my wife as above, her third's (sic) during life or widowhood & then to go to him. Item I give to my beloved daughter Rebecca Brigs Powell one Negro girl, Mary & one Negro woman Diner at the death of my wife one bed & furniture. Item I give to my beloved daughter Amy Powell one Negro man David, sixty four dollars and twenty seven cents & one bed & furniture. And the residue of my Estate that is not mentioned in this will to be equally divided between my son John Powell & my daughter Rebecca B. Powell & daughter Amy Powell & my grand son James Powell Bell to them & their heirs for ever. Item I lastly constitute and appoint my son, John Powell & my brother Edward Powell my whole & sole Executors to this my last will and testament revoking all other wills by me heretofore made. In witness whereof, I have here into set my hand and affixed my seal this fifteenth day of April in the year of our lord one thousand seven hundred & ninety six.
