Term 1857 Book D, Page 339 FHC #0158728 Sept. 17, 1857/Oct. 1857 Georgia Oglethorpe County In the name of God Amen. I Sarah Smith of said State and County being of advanced age and knowing that I must shortly depart from this world deem it right and proper both as respects myself and my family that I should make a disposition of the property with which a kind providence has blessed me. I therefore make this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking and annulling all others heretofore made by me. Item first: I desire and direct that my body be buried in a decent & Christian manner suitable to my circumstances and condition, my soul I trust shall return to rest with God who gave it, as I hope for eternal salvation through the blessed Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whose religion I have professed and as I humbly trust enjoyed for many years ~~~ Item 2nd I wish all my just debts to be paid, and after that to give to Martha Ann Fled(?) one hundred dollars for her attention to me. This must be paid out of my estate ~~~and after that I want an equal distribution between all of my children. I have given my son Francis M. Smith seven hundred dollars, after that is taken out of his share, I want the balance to go to his children ~~~ It is my desire the share that falls to my daughter Jane O. Callaway at her death to go to Frederick J. Hudson. My desire is that the share that falls to my son William H. Smith he should take and use while he lives and then go to his children. ~~ I nominate my son Jabez P. Smith sole Executor to this my last Will and Testament revoking and disannulling all wills heretofore made by me. Witness I hereunto set my hand and seal this 17th day of September one thousand eight hundred and fifty seven. John P. Latimer Sarah X(her mark) Smith R.P.
