This cemetery holds the graves of eight known Confederate Soldiers from the "Orphan Brigade" of Kentucky. There are also approximately 16 to 18 graves that are marked only with field stones, most appear to be marked with head and foot stones. There is also one small childs grave in the back right hand corner. The soldiers died at the Battle of NewHope/Dallas, May 25 - 28, 1864. Transcribed by Angela Cato, March 21, 2001. Pvt. John P. Child's headstone (has been repaired from being broken into several pieces) Very hard to read but I did my best. Name appears to be MA..... (the rest is unreadable due to repairs) the next line- J * & M E (last name is unreadable due to repairs) next line- Born 1874 next line- Died June (day is unreadable) 1878 There is an inscription across the bottom of the stone but the weather has made it unreadable. ******************************************************************
