Miller's Parole & Discharge from the 7th Georgia Infantry, Company 'C' as well as a note he sent along to the Board of Pension examiners in Alabama in 1906. Hugh H.[Harellson] Miller, profession: farmer,according to 1860 census of District # 1043, Paulding County, Georgia ; Enlisted ,at the age of 27 years, beginning at the rank of Private. Enlistment at Atlanta, Georgia on May 31st, 1861 into the service of the 7th Georgia Volunteers , Company "C" ; he became 'ill' in July of 1861 at Manassas Junction, Virginia, 'having contracted a disease', & was discharged on July 18th, 1862 at Camp Sam Jones, Virginia. I've included a total of three separate document transcriptions here. Any words/letters that are difficult to read will be so noted. [#1] MILITARY DISCHARGE OF Pvt. Hugh H MILLER, 7th Ga Vol, Co. 'C': Front [titled] page which consists of a preprinted format that has been filled in by C. S. Jenkins as well as two separate additional script notations in two separate additional hand writings, one in the bottom left corner & another scrawled across the top left of the page.... " SOLDIERS DISCHARGE---TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN--- KNOW YE, That H. H. Miller a Private of Captain C.S. Jenkins Company (C) 7th Regiment of Ga Vol, who was enlisted the 31st day of May one thousand eight hundred sixty one, to serve 12 months is hereby HONORABLY discharged from the Army of the Confederate States. Said H. H. Miller was born in Walton County in the State of Georgia, is Thirty years of age, five[5] feet eight [8] inches high, dark complexion, Grey eyes, dark hair and by occupation when enlisted , a farmer. Given at Camp Sam Jones this 18th day of July 1862. [Signed] C. S. Jenkins, Captain Commanding Co C 7th Reg Ga Vol. [inscription in different hand at the bottom left corner]--Approved John Dunwoody Lt. Col Comm 7th Regt Ga Vol. [inscription scrawled in yet another larger hand sideways across top left most part of the discharg]--Paid in full Qm[?] John Neil Captain Nausp fru in kind[?] D. H. Wood Cap??ain[?]s?loll..." This inscription is on the back of the page where the document appears to have been folded into three parts & in in another hand writing from those noted on the front page." " [#2] LETTER---My Ancestor included the following note attachment along with his discharge papers sent to the Alabama State Board of Pension Examiners in Montgomery , Alabama on 07 July 1906. "Gadsden Ala July 7th 1906 To the State Board Pension Examiners Montgomery Ala Gentlemen After examination of the attached Discharge and Parole by your Honorable body will you kindly do me the favor to return them to me as I prize them very highly-I attach stamp to pay return postage Yours very truly H. H. Miller" [#3] PAROLE---FRONT: All handwritten on small note card-receipt sized paper. "[top left corner] 870 Hood Quartermaster Kingston, Ga May 12th 1865 The bearer H H MILLER of Bureau of Conscription A Paroled Prisoner of the Army of [blank] has permission to go to his home and there remainundisturbed so long as he observes the conditions of his parole and the laws of the place in which he lives.[vertical flourish] By order of Brig Gen H or G M Jackson[?] Lt Col and Asst Insp Gen [signature]H M ??son. BACK: Paroled at Kingston Ga May 12th 186? Lewis Mu??ll Col W S Vol Paroling Officer[?] {Signature & rank] ??R B Hughis?
