Phillip's Legion Infantry, Co. B. He was captured 7/2/1863 at Gettysburg and imprisoned at Point Lookout until exchanged in February 1865. Listed on roll for Camp Lee (a prisoner exchage camp near Richmond) 2/21/1865. No further record. Born 1838/39 in Stewart Co., Georgia. Additional Comments: Note: Matthew Marion Womack was the son of Thomas J. and Esther Womack late of Paulding County, Georgia. He was married first to Sarah Mote, daughter of William and Mary Mote also of Paulding County. Sarah died in 1872 leaving Matthew with several small children. He then married Sarah's younger sister, Mary Mote.
