The whole piece is a misrepresentation of facts. The truth of the affair is about as follows: Mr. Hicks in company with some of his neighbors were in Haralson county on a camp hunt, Mr. Hicks wandered off and while gathering some chinquepins was shot by his own gun accidentally, and Mr. Shelton on that day was in Carroll county attending to his daily avocations. There is not a man in this county that believes or suspects that Jerry Shelton shot John Hicks. Besides, Mr. Shelton is not the rascal made out to be by the article referred to, but is a peaceable good citizen unless imposed on, and then like all other human beings he defends himself. I hope that in justice to Jerry Shelton and the people of this county you will publish the above. George ?
