He was born January 22, 1917 in Paulding County, Georgia, son of the late Homer Brown and the late Vinnie Head Brown. Mr. Brown was member of First Baptist Church of Villa Rica where he served as deacon and was also a member of the Berean Sunday School Class. Mr. Brown was a well-known and respected entrepreneur, civic leader and farmer in the West Georgia area and with season fluctuations, his businesses at one time, had successfully employed over 500 employees. He was the founder of the Jean’s Hosiery Mill, Golden City Hosiery Mill and Custom Built Cabinet Company. He was the owner of the Happy Hollow Farm. He served for six years as Villa Rica City Councilman and was named Man of the Year by the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce. He was also a member of the Carroll County Cattleman’s Association. Over the years, Mr. Brown has received numerous awards for his conservation efforts. He was also a member of the CB&T Bank Board, formerly known as the Bank of Carroll County. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Mrs. Ruth Fuller Brown of Villa Rica; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Brown Ray of Carrollton and Phyllis and Dr. Steve Woodall of Villa Rica; grandchildren and their spouses, Lisa and Rim Sullivan of Carrollton, Kevin and Tracy Myrick of Villa Rica, Christiana and Rev. Mark Sly of Cochran, Amalie and Heath Hyneman of Villa Rica, Dr. Niles and Sarah Woodall of Villa Rica and Whitney Woodall of Villa Rica; great- grandchildren, Graeme Sullivan of Carrollton, Lindsey Myrick of Villa Rica, Mitchell Myrick of Villa Rica, Matthew Myrick of Villa Rica, Avery Sly of Cochran, Ayden Sly of Cochran and Hudson Hyneman of Villa Rica; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his great- granddaughter, Little Miss Hollis Amalie Hyneman; two brothers, James Clarence “JC” Brown and Raymond Brown and one sister, Pauline Horton. Funeral Services were held on March 31, 2005 at 3:00 pm from the Chapel of First Baptist Church of Villa Rica with Dr. J. B. Marlow, Dr. Rick Holcomb and Rev. Mark Sly officiating. Musical selections were rendered by Charles Cole and soloists Christiana Sly and Rob Alford, with Rev. Ben Pilgreen officiating. Interment followed in the Garden of Remembrance at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens in Villa Rica. Pallbearers were Dr. Steve Woodall, Dr. Niles Woodall, Heath Hyneman, Rev. Mark Sly, Kevin Myrick and Tim Sullivan. Honorary pallbearers were members of the First Baptist Church of Villa Rica Berean Sunday School Class. Jones-Winn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
